  8. INFORMATION:   A customer reports that they are using an ALR 486/25 EISA
  9.                machine as a NetWare 386 server under v3.0 Rev. A  with 24MB
  10.                of RAM.  He is not using either the Compaq executable patch
  11.                or the Register statement in AUTOEXEC.NCF in order to
  12.                recognize his RAM.

  14.                The ALR 486/25 EISA has not been certified through the IMSP.
  15.                It has been tested and guaranteed by ALR, however.
  16.  
  17.                When Compaq originally wrote the specification for super
  18.                extended memory in the EISA machines, Novell took that spec.
  19.                and wrote NetWare 386 v3.0 according to it.  Later, Compaq
  20.                changed the spec. and Novell implemented the Register
  21.                statement in v3.1 as a fix.  Perhaps ALR is following the
  22.                original EISA specification which would explain why you
  23.                wouldn't need to run any patches.
